No Dessert For Mom - NEW!
Mo caught me. Cold-handed! I was eating ice cream before dinner. He raced through the house, bellowing his discovery to Ozzie and Sasha, then returned to announce with great delight: "The consequence of you eating dessert before dinner is you don't get dessert later."
"Okay," I said. "Sounds fair."
Mo wasn't finished. "...and if you eat dessert later, then you get no dessert for a week. If you eat it during the week, no dessert for a month. If during the month, then not for a year!" My punishment was escalating rapidly: 2 years, 4, 8, 16, 32...
"I'll be dead by then," I protested.
"No you won't." ...64, 128, 256...
Seems like I won't be eating dessert for the next 512 years. But at least I can grow old and dessert-less knowing my son's good at doubling numbers in his head.
